In celebration of our Orchard Breezin’ Spring 2018 limited release, Watermelon Grapefruit (which is available now in stores!), we wanted to tempt your taste buds with a delicious, salty and sweet cocktail recipe. Not sure what a salty dog is? It’s a cocktail of gin or vodka. and grapefruit juice served in a highball glass with a salted rim. Our twist on this recipe is of course using our mouthwatering Orchard Breezin’ watermelon grapefruit instead of grapefruit juice. The combination of the tart sweetness of the watermelon grapefruit and salted rim makes for a delicious pairing!

Orchard Breezin’ Watermelon Grapefruit Salty Dog Twist Recipe

Yield: makes 2 cocktails

¾ cup Orchard Breezin’ Watermelon Grapefruit
½ cup vodka or gin
Coarse salt, for rimming glasses

Optional Garnishes:

Frozen watermelon slices
Grapefruit slices
Fresh mint sprigs

Directions:

1. Fill a shaker with ice and add the Orchard Breezin’ Watermelon Grapefruit, and vodka/gin.
2. Shake vigorously for a few seconds to mix and chill the ingredients.
3. Rim two glasses with coarse salt and fill with crushed ice.
4. Divide the mixture between the two glasses and garnish with frozen watermelon wedges, grapefruit slices, and even a sprig or two of mint, as desired.
5. Serve immediately!
